WHAT DO WE DO?
We do a lot of volunteer work to teach and promote safe boating practices on Central Massachusetts lakes and rivers. These activities are the cornerstones of the Auxiliary. This is what we do:

PUBLIC EDUCATION

We offer single session and multi-session classes in the fall and spring depending on demand. Course cost covers materials. Completion of the About Boating Safely (ABS) is a minimal requirement in New England states (except MA and ME) to operate any recreational vessel. learn more

VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS FOR THE PUBLIC - FREE! Auxiliary Vessel Check decal

Make sure YOUR recreational vessel - canoe, kayak, paddleboat, personal watercraft, power boat, sail boat, any recreational boat - has all the safety equipment required by federal and state laws. On a trailer or in the water. During the late spring and summer months, you might see us at local launch ramps conducting the inspections. learn more

PROMOTE NATIONAL SAFE BOATING CAMPAIGNS Wear It! logo

"Wear It!" and "Saved by the Beacon" are awareness and boating safety campaigns of the National Safe Boating Council. Wear a life jacket whenever underway and learn the importance of 406 MHz beacons. Both of these DO SAVE LIVES. learn more (video on YouTube)

MARINE and PROGRAM VISITATIONS

We stay in close contact with area marinas, boat dealers, and any participating businesses that help to "spread the word" about boating safety and the Auxiliary's missions. Ask about us at your favorite boat place. learn more

OTHER ACTIVITIES
We are also involved in many other "behind-the-scene" Auxiliary activities, including Navigation Systems, and Marine Safety and Environmental Protection.

WE NEED YOU!
We need more members in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary to fulfill our missions. Learn more about the Auxiliary and join the Auxiliary. Feel free to contact the 10-1 Flotilla Commander, Mary Bentley, for more assistance.
