  • WHEN TO WEAR
    • approved for year-round use
    • boat show booths, conferences, meetings, official functions, training
    • often the "uniform of the day" so all members should have this uniform
    • worn instead of the Service Dress Blue Uniform, except when a coat + tie are more appropriate

Operational Dress Uniform (ODU; untucked)

  • This uniform is not qualified for Auxiliary use but could be by the end of 2009.
  • The untucked COAT (shirt) cannot be ordered from the UDC but should be for Aux members "in the near future."

Dinner Dress Blue ("Dress Mess Blue") view full male and female uniforms

Occasions for this uniform are rare for most of us, so you can just view the male and female versions of this uniform. (Full details can be provided if the Flotilla requires them.)

Uniform Glossary

Devices
Devices denote command experience. They appear above the right pocket.
Insignia
Insignia denote a significant level of qualification or designation in specialized fields (aviator, coxswain) that meet an established standard of knowledge, training, and experience. Metal insignia are worn on all uniforms (except ODU) and appear above the left pocket above ribbons. The Axuiliary has collar and sleeve style insignia.
Ribbons
They appear above the left pocket below insignia.

  • USCG Auxiliary New Member - Proper Wear of the CG Aux Uniform (PDF 2/2009)
    While this is intended for new members, it provides an excellent up-to-date review and consolidation of uniform and grooming information for all Auxiliarists.
  • USCG Aux Manual COMDTINST.M16790 1.F - Uniform Chapters 10 & 11 (AUXMAN)
    Extensive and the most important resource for uniform protocol.
  • USCG Aux "H" Department, Uniform Division
    The national page with personnel information and links to the uniform guide and presentation.
  • USCG Uniform Distribution Center (UDC)
    The USCG site sells the uniforms discussed above. Click on the "Placing Orders" link to enter the online store after entering your Aux member credentials. Very limited Auxiliary devices and accessories. You must also use Internet Explorer to access the UDC. (For Auxiliary items, visit AUXCEN or D7.)
  • Auxiliary Center (AUXCEN)
    The best place to buy nearly all of the Auxiliary accessories needed for your uniforms and many logo items. Their prices are usually slightly less than the D7 Materials Center. You can also go to AUXCEN and click on the "Districts Online Materials Store" link to start (Aux Id and password required).
  • District 7 Materials Center
    The second best place to buy Auxiliary uniform items that not available at the UDC or AUXCEN. They also sell many Aux, CG, and DHS logo items. (Login username and password required.)
